Writers' rooms: Francesca Simon
I've lived in my Victorian terrace house for 18 years, and for 16 of them my office was a tiny, cramped garret filled with cast-off desks, collapsing bookshelves, wonky chairs and grisly lighting. It got to the point where I found my office so claustrophobic that I started working at the kitchen table instead.
